ORIGINS
Illustrated Girl repaints by Viktoria La Paz are known for their striking
combination of storybook and realism. Whimsical, ethereal, idealized and
animation-styled faces are the hallmark of these fashion doll
portrait interpretations. The first Illustrated Girl was repainted
in 1999 and has since gone through a variety of 'phases' in style,
technique and media. Water-based graphic inks, acrylic paints and
gesso are currently utilized for the repaint procedure, finished up
with polymer varnishes and special super-matte resin effects to give a
soft, porcelain-like appearance to painted surfaces. An in-depth
feature profile about Illustrated Girl repaints appeared in the
January 2005 Haute Doll magazine;

GALLERY 2007
The repaints shown in the Gallery represent a selection of the
Artist's latest work and personal favorites. The photos have been
merged with digital backgrounds to beautify the presentation and
celebrate the artistry of the faces. A Photoshop edge sharpener filter
has been used on the dolls' photos to enhance detail; hair and
fabrics may be airbrushed to merge photo to backgrounds. Gallery notes
give additional info for
each repaint, such as doll model and purchase availability.
